Churning up even more excitement for the home release of "The Avengers," another deleted scene has recently popped up online. This one has Cap discovering that his old flame, Peggy Carter, is still alive, and hints at the possibility of a reunion between the two. It also shows Cap adjusting to the modern world, and an alternate appearance by Stan "The Man" Lee. It's already been taken removed from a lot of websites and youtube channels, as per request by Disney, so watch it while you can!
In case the clip is taken down, here's the summary:
- The clip opens with Steve watching an old reel online of Cap's WWII glory days
- Steve going through S.H.I.E.L.D. files, discovers Peggy is alive, with contact information, and that Howard Stark is deceased
- There's also a file on Tony Stark
- Steve walks through town, shows his age in a conversation with a waitress, and a humorous cameo from Stan Lee
- Steve rides the subway to the gym, beats on a body bag, same scene that opens "The Avengers" movie
As much as it provides insight into Steve's character, I can see why they cut it. Showing a much more somber Cap does seem to have more of a place in a solo Captain America movie, instead of a flick where a whole slew of super heroes come together.
But showing that Peggy is alive does open up possibilities for Cap's sequel, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." Several different actresses have already been suggested to play Peggy's neice, Sharon.
At least we know that a potential reunion is at least a possibility. After all, he needs something to keep him going.
"The Avengers" hits home on DVD and Blu-ray September 25, and "Captain America: The Winter Solider" is scheduled to arrive in theaters April 4, 2014.
