Batman Vs Robocop: Michael Keaton Joins The Cast Of The Remake

Michael has signed on to play the villain in the MGM and Columbia Pictures reboot of the film "RoboCop," which will be helmed by director Jose Padilha. Keaton will play the role Hugh Laurie was expected to play, until he recently dropped out of the film late last week.

"Michael is the final addition to the amazing cast we have assembled for this film, and it is so great to have the last puzzle piece in place," Padilha said in a statement. "It is thrilling that everything has come together to bring this innovative new vision of RoboCop to life. We've got a great script, a great cast, some killer ED-209s, and I can't wait to get Alex Murphy back on the streets."

Keaton will play the role of the evil and corporate CEO of Omnicorp, the company that builds the cyborg police officer. The cast of RoboCop features Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson and now Keaton. The film has experienced a lot of issues during its production.

The original RoboCop is an American science fiction action film directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Peter Weller, Detroit police officer Alex Murphy, who is brutally murdered and subsequently revived by the malevolent mega-corporation OCP as a superhuman cyborg law enforcer known as "RoboCop."

The movie featured highly stylized and sometime comical violence. RoboCop explored themes regarding the media, resurrection, gentrification, corruption, privatization, capitalism, masculinity, identity and human nature.

The film spawned a franchise that included toys, videogames and two television series. It received positive reviews and was cited as one of the best films of 1987.
