'American Crime' News, Spoilers, Update: Felicity Huffman Returning For Show's Third Season

Fans would be glad to know that Felicity Huffman is returning to the anthology series "American Crime" as it approaches its third season. The 53-year old actress joins co-star Regina King, as she reprises her role as Barbara Hanlon on the show.

Last year, the former "Desperate Housewives" star was nominated for an Emmy Award in the category Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role in "American Crime." Huffman may be best known for her role as Lynette Scavo on "Desperate Housewives," a role for which she she won a Primetime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

She has also appeared in several films such as "Cake" and "Rudderless" in 2014. According to Entertainment Weekly, the third season of the critically acclaimed ABC drama will focus on labor issues, economic divides, and individual rights. The story will be set in North Carolina, and production will start filming in Los Angeles, as the show was awarded with a California tax credit.

Last week, it was announced that Regina King, who won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for her role as Aliyah Shadeed, will be returning for the show's third season. Series creator John Ridley spoke to Deadline to share the news and express his excitement of having her on board for the third season, saying that her character will be dealing with transformation amidst a story writen around themes such as economic divides and individual rights.

"American Crime" was nominated in ten categories during the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards, and three categories in the 73rd Golden Globe Awards. The series is produced by Ridley together with Michael McDonald. As of now, ABC has not released a premiere date for the third season of "American Crime."
