Five Nights at Freddy's the Movie might be facing a bleak future after talks about its apparent pre-production activities went quiet, but that doesn't mean the plans on foregoing with it has been outright turned down. In fact, despite the few details on the development of the movie, people who have been working closely with the project revealed some pretty promising details about it.
According to the Latin Post, a certain Alex Thomas on twitter posted a question asking whether Five Nights at Freddy's the Movie has been canceled to which, director Gil Kenan answered "no, not cancelled, just in the very long script development phase... Still working on it!" So there you have it. Five Nights at Freddy's is going to happen; the team working on it however, needs to come around with finishing the script in order to push through with the production.
Also, creator of Five Nights at Freddy's game series, Scott Cawthon chimed in with the discussion saying, the script is currently being worked on. He also added "The people involved are taking the movie seriously, which is definitely a good thing!"
Meanwhile, according to the Hollywood Reporter, producer Seth Grahame-Smith has expressed his interest to collaborate with Cawthon in order to get the feel of the horror movie, borrow his idea of effective, scary movie and work it from there. He also said that, the different story concept of Five Nights at Freddy's will literally attract audience to watch the movie. Cawthon on his part said there's something about the unexplored part of horror movies that makes the movie rather appealing than just mere video game to movie type of survival horror movie.
Currently, no details have been said about the possible release date of the movie, but if spoilers and rumors were to be based upon, Five Nights at Freddy's the Movie has a target release year in 2018 according to the Latin Post.
