Paramount Pictures releases the new "Star Trek: Beyond" trailer ahead of its premiere in July and the clip proved to be an epic debut for Rihanna's latest single "Sledgehammer."
There are a couple of new and never-before-seen scenes from the movie in the trailer but Rihanna's song certainly proved to be a key factor in making it more epic. Check it out below.
The singer spilled the beans before the trailer was even released by posting a teasing Tweet showing some snippets from the video. In fact, she had been teasing about the big reveal of "Sledgehammer" two years ago via the microblogging platform. "You're just another brick and I'm a sledgehammer #barz," Rihanna wrote in her Twitter page in May 2014.
Aside from the notable effect the song lent the video, there were also several dramatic and enigmatic scenes. And as if that is not enough, the clip lends more shroud of mystery to the movie as a voice over from Chris Pine who plays Captain Kirk is hear saying: "This is my last report as the captain of the starship Enterprise."
According to Cinema Blend, the new "Star Trek" movie is nothing like its predecessors. Apparently, the flow of the story would have a change of pace in terms of Captain Kirk and Spock played by Zachary Quinto.
"Those characters are so diametrically opposed that it'll be nice to see them interacting," he was quoted telling Telegraph UK. Unfortunately, Chekov will no longer be appearing in the film as news broke last week about Anton Yelchin's untimely demise due to a freak accident. The clip also shows no footage of him anywhere.
"Sledgehammer" is available for download in iTunes now. "Star Trek: Beyond" is set for theatrical release on July 22, 2016, featuring Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, John Cho as Sulu, Sofia Boutella, Lydia Wilson, Joe Taslim, and Idris Elba.
