There are new rumors that talks about a "Masters of the Universe" movie are currently underway. Kellan Lutz reportedly had an actual conversation about potentially playing the hero He-Man.
There are no news whether the meeting actually rendered anything material or if director McG agreed to the idea of having the "Twilight" actor star in "Masters of the Universe." There is also no confirmation yet from Mary Viola, president of Wonderland Sound & Vision, McG's production company.
Lutz tweeted that he met with McG's Wonderland and Mary Viola about Masters of the Universe and that the project is in great hands.
ScreenRant wrote that "Masters of the Universe" became widely popular in the 1980s. The brand has since spawned a number of cartoon shows, one movie and numerous toys. A cartoon series, "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe," aired for one year and is probably its most famous iteration. The 1987 live-action movie featured Dolph Lundgren as He-Man.
The story is set in the planet Eternia. The main character is Prince Adam of Castle Grayskull, who can summon powers to transform into the warrior He-Man, who has superhuman strength and various fighting abilities. The main villain is Skeletor, who is protected by various minions. There are also several other interesting characters in the cartoons. A "Masters of the Universe" reboot will most likely showcase a huge showdown between the two characters.
It has almost been three decades since the last "Masters of the Universe" movie came out. Plans for a reboot have remained in limbo, with names such as director Jon M. Chu and writers Michael Finch, Alex Litvak, Christopher Yost and Jeff Wadlow, being rumored to have a part at some point. Previously, McG stated that he is currently trying to figure out the right tone for the movie, which will ultimately affect the main cast, particularly who gets to play He-Man.
Kellan Lutz is actually a good potential pick for He-Man in a "Masters of the Universe" project. He definitely has the look and size to play the transformed version of Prince Adam. Lutz has also played a number of super men in the past, such as Hercules, Poseidon and the vampire Emmett Cullen. Wearing He-Man's armor will not be entirely a new experience for the actor.
iO9 stated that overall, Masters of the Universe fans will have to wait for more news and updates, because it seems that the film has a long road ahead before getting close to actually being made. More updates and details are expected soon.
