Metal Gear's 25th Anniversary Event Will "shake the industry"

Next week's Metal Gear 25th anniversary event at Tokyo Midtown will be full of "a lot of exciting announcements," or so says Kojima Productions Report podcaster Ken Mendoza.

According to Chris Johns, who works alongside Mendoza, "A lot of things to look forward to next week, not just for fans, but I think the industry's gonna be shook by what we're going to be able to present here."

So what's the big deal? Good question. We only know the following:

  • Hideo Kojima will make an announcement in relation to an idea of a game that connects people. Snakebook? Probably not.
  • We're going to see 'what Fox Engine can do', which we're guessing will come in the form of a new game. Perhaps the same as that above, perhaps not. Maybe even some kind of preview of the fabled Metal Gear Solid 5, which is supposed to be coming in the summer of 2013.

The event will occur on August 30.

Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima will also participate in a discussion surrounding the past, present and future of the Metal Gear series during this year's PAX Prime. The one hour event will focus on the history of the franchise - where it's been, and where it's going. The event will be be open to all PAX attendees, and will take place on Saturday, September 1st at 1:00pm PST at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle.

And in honor of the anniversary, you can download HD versions of some of the Metal Gear Solid titles.  At the moment, you can find both Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater on PSN and XBox Live. Peace Walker is coming August 28.
