Approaching an unidentified planet in the darkest corners of the unknown galaxy the UT-47A disengages its FTL drive core. Lieutenant Commander Shepard, the most legendary and notorious man in the universe, glances up briefly at the screen and mouths the word Leviathan.
We are then swept away into a collage of run and gun gameplay through various locations filled with technological mysteries and hulking alien beast. Almost immediately it becomes apparent that the compelling story of Mass Effect 3 is far from over.
The Mass Effect 3: Leviathan DLC trailer takes gamers under the deep oceans, as Commander Shepard tracks down the Leviathan's signal to a water-world like mysterious planet.
Mass Effect 3: Leviathan will be released on Aug. 28, for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. For PlayStation 3 owners in Europe the content will be released just a day later and arrive on Aug. 29.
Bioware released this detailed description of the expansion pack earlier this summer on the developer's web blog. It reads as follows:
"Something lurks in the dark corners of space, something powerful enough to kill a Reaper. Shepard must discover the most closely guarded secret in the galaxy before the Reapers silence it forever. Discover more about the origins of the Reapers as you race across the galaxy to find the Leviathan. Unravel the dark history of the Reaper Race before it is too late. Coming later this summer there is no war, only the harvest."
Leviathan will also feature new solar systems and areas in the Citadel for players to search and two new weapons: the AT-12 Raider Shotgun and the M-55 Argus Assault Rifle.
Mass Effect 3: Leviathan cost $10 if purchased for the PC or on the PlayStation Network and cost 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE.
