It's that time of the year many gamers have been waiting for (and saving up for): Steam's annual summer sale is now upon us. Are your wallets prepared?
Running for around a week until Monday, July 4, Steam once again slashes the prices of pretty much all of its games available for purchase, and all the games you've probably been meaning to get (if you haven't yet). The theme of the sale is a summer picnic, and Steam's made 10 new trading cards available for collection and display in a user's profile.
Polygon's counted the different ways you can get a trading card on Steam during the sale:
- Trading for cards
- Craft a game badge during the sale period (June 23-July 4)
- Get a card for every $10 you spend during the sale
- Level 5 Steam users can check out their Explore queue, getting a maximum of three cards a day this way
- Buy other cards from players in the community market
Getting all 10 cards will get you the Summer Picnic Sale badge, and it has a special background and emoticon. Getting foil versions will get you a foil version of the badge, which also has its own background, emoticon, and extra Steam user experience points.
