Dean Ambrose's surprise WWE World Heavyweight Championship win back at "Money in the Bank"—as well as the triple threat match for the title set at "Battleground" next month, and Roman Reigns's 30-day suspension—has changed the main event landscape at the drop of a hat. This episode of "SmackDown" continues pushing the momentum toward "Battleground."
- The opening segment sees Seth Rollins coming out and ranting about winning his championship back. He issued an open challenge to anyone on the roster, and out comes Sami Zayn. The match is made for later in the night, as the "SmackDown" main event.
- Cesaro def. Alberto del Rio. It was a pretty good match, as is the norm for "SmackDown."
- Sheamus def. Apollo Crews via countout. It was a rematch from "Money in the Bank."
- The Club and the Usos confront each other backstage. Jimmy Uso vs. AJ Styles is made for later that night.
- AJ Styles (with the Club) def. Jimmy Uso (with Jey Uso). Good to see last month's feud still continue a little bit on "SmackDown," not overexposing the Club's rivalry with John Cena.
- The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E, with Xavier Woods) def. The Vaudevillains. The Wyatt Family interrupted the New Day's post-match celebration.
- Sami Zayn does a backstage interview saying he wants to end his feud with Kevin Owens.
- Charlotte and Dana Brooke do a backstage interview against Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch. Becky Lynch and Dana Brooke have a match up next.
- Dana Brooke def. Becky Lynch after interference from Charlotte.
- Seth Rollins runs into Dean Ambrose backstage. Roman Reigns is still suspended, so it's only the two of them promoting and progressing this storyline.
- Seth Rollins def. Sami Zayn in the "SmackDown" main event.
