"Goodbye Christopher Robin" follows the story of the author of the most-loved "Winnie the Pooh" stories. Domhnall Gleeson will take on the lead role of the author AA Milne and critics have high hopes that he will be taking home an Oscar for his portrayal.
The Biopic Trend In Oscars
The Independent UK pointed out that The Academy is known to have penchants for biopic films. In fact, Eddie Redmayne won himself an Oscar for his role as physicist Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything" in 2015.
While "Goodbye Christopher Robin" has yet to start film production later this year, critics are already banking on Domhnall Gleeson taking home an Oscar himself.
Film critic Joanna Robinson from Vanity Fair expressed her high hopes for the "Star Wars" actor. Robinson pointed out that Domhnall Gleeson has a list of great movies under his name, all Oscar title nominees.
His films, "Brooklyn," "The Revenant" and Star Wars: The Force Awakens" were among the much-talked about films in this year's Oscars Awards. Not only that, but the films also earned 19 Oscar nominations between them last February.
In his role as AA Milne in the upcoming "Goodbye Christopher Robin," Domhnall Gleeson is expected to deliver the same as Jonny Depp did in his role as JM Barrie in "Finding Neverland" in 2005.
The Tale Of Christopher Robin
"Goodbye Christopher Robin" will be directed by Simon Curtis (My Weekend with Marilyn) with Domhnall Gleeson as the author AA Milne and Margot Robbie as his wife, Daphne.
"Goodbye Christopher Robin" will follow the story of Milne and his son, Christopher Robin, whose cuddly toys inspired Milne to do the much-loved "Winnie the Pooh" stories.
"Goodbye Christopher Robin" will focus on how the family coped with their fame brought by the books after World War One.
The film will touch the darks side of Milne's legacy. In "Goodbye Christopher Robin," people will realize why the author said goodbye to all the fame.
However, shooting for "Goodbye Christopher Robin" will not start until later this year. That means fans have to wait in 2018 to see if indeed Domhnall Gleeson will take home the Oscars.
