Have you always wanted to be a space smuggler? Have you watched "Star Wars" and looked on Han Solo with great fondness for him and his chosen career, wishing you can be some kind of interplanetary maverick? "Space Run Galaxy", the upcoming sequel to 2014 intergalactic tower defense game "Space Run" is now available, and developer Passtech Games has put out a new trailer to signal the game's launch.
"Space Run Galaxy," which released last Friday, is set 20 years after the original game, and now you'll be working and running space cargo for the first game's protagonist, Capt. Buck Mann. The object of the game is simple and unchanged: you have to deliver cargo as fast as possible, and in one piece as hostile pirates and space monsters (yes, those exist) will engage you and try to steal your shipments. New companies that you haven't seen in the first game will hire you for your services.
According to one-man design studio Passtech Games, among the game's new features include an ambitious (massively) multiplayer mode—with shipping contracts and missions coming from other players, and an interesting online market where players will be able to trade goods and raw materials—real-time ship customization, and new bosses and enemy types. This is a huge step up from the first game's enclosed single-player mode. Honestly, who wouldn't want to play in a galaxy full of other people? After all, we aren't alone in this universe.
Judging from the trailer, the game looks even more dazzling, a fantastic lightshow in space for the modern side-scrolling shooter genre. The game is only independent, but that wouldn't be so obvious at first glance. "Space Run Galaxy" is now available at 15% off on Steam, for only $9.18.
