‘Girl Meets World’ News & Update: Maya Gets Better Score Than Riley; Riley Gets A ‘D’ For The First Time

Last week's episode of "Girl Meets World" featured Riley getting a bad score for the first time. The episode "Girl Meets Permanent Record" discussed one of the challenges a girl faces in her high school years: academics.

Riley Gets A 'D'

"Girl Meets World" is full of reality checks and life lessons for all teenage girls and boys. As the story unfolds in school, academics seem a reasonable issue to tackle.

If your mother used to be the class valedictorian, being intelligent may come naturally. As they say, 80 percent of a child's intelligence is acquired from the mother.

This is the case for Riley. She hasn't experienced difficulty in her academics in any of "Girl Meets World" episode until now.

TVOverMind reported a review of "Girl Meets Permanent Record," the latest episode of "Girl Meet World" that aired last Friday. The episode revolved around education, a sensitive topic to most teenage girls.

In a nutshell, "Girl Meets World" last episode showed Maya, Zay and Smackle breeze their way through Spanish class while Riley, Lucas and Farkle struggle for the first time.

Because of one bad grade, Riley's permanent record is tainted and she is deeply affected by it. She forgets the fact that a series of tests comprise the final grade.

Realities Of Education

This episode turned out of the best in this season of "Girl Meets World," as it depicts the reality of education, IGN said.

The little conversation about college application and high school grades showed the real-life struggles of a high school student.

The last episode of "Girl Meets World" also showed parents involvement in their child's education. Cory and Topanga had a different take on Riley's performance in Spanish, each taking the time to talk with Riley's teacher.

Cory goes to the teacher as a father and asked for leniency. Meanwhile, Topanga thanked the teacher for encouraging Riley to be at her best.

Lastly, the website pointed out that "Girl Meets World" episodes are becoming more focused with more grounded storylines injected with humor, which is full of valuable lessons.

What do you think Riley will do? Will she beat herself up because of her bad grade or will she do better? Check out the next episode of "Girl Meets World" on June 24 at Disney Channel.
