Going over the first season of “Supergirl”, “Superman” was somehow present through his exchanges with “Kara” (Melissa Benoist) and James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) through the modern mediums available to date (i.e. emails, text messages).
A key question that went up at the time was on whether “Kal-El” would actually have a role – not primarily like a shadow or teases of a flying object during some episodes last season.
And the answer to that was Tyler Hoechlin, someone who will be appearing as the “Man of Steel”. In fact, he will enter the fray in the first two episodes per Entertainment Weekly.
What kind of Superman will we see?
“Superman” will once again have someone new playing him (at least for this series) in Tyler Hoechlin. Will there be a different persona this time around?
For his part, Hoechlin simply wants to carry on the tradition and play the part. But while this may happen when he puts on the cape, how about his “Clark Kent” alternative identity?
Will he be a bungling “Clark Kent” or someone who is more reserved similar to the one that “Henry Cavill” has been portraying as of late?
According to the Daily Mail, it looks like Hoechlin will touch on the lighter side of Clark, hinting at possibly touching his sense of humour.
Who will be protecting who?
With word that “Superman” will be around in the first two episodes of “Supergirl” season 2, it brings up questions on who could “Kara” be facing to merit the arrival of her cousin. Will that adversary be someone “Supergirl” is unable to handle by herself?
On the other hand, it could be the other way around. Similar to how Barry/Flash (Grant Gustin) landed on “Supergirl” in the first season, it may be “Superman” needing some help instead.
Either way, “Supergirl” season 2 should be interesting. Does this mean that the “Man of Steel” could be hooked up with the planned crossovers as well?
“Supergirl” season 2 is set to debut on October 17 on CW.
