One of the things creators of "Steven Universe" are known for is their subtle hints throughout the show. Fans may have figured out what really happened to Russia thanks to the plot hints left on "It Could Have Been Great" episode in season 2.

Was It A Jab Against Russia's Censorship?

In "Steven Universe" season 2's episode "It Could Have Been Great," fans were shown how the Earth looked like.

While the countries do not resemble how in the real world, highly questionable was the big hole was seen in Russia's place. So why did the creators left a whole in Russia's place?

When the episode was aired in "Steven Universe" season 2, many speculated that it was a jab against Russia, as one Reddit user pointed out. The conversation thread on that Reddit user revolved around Russia's censorship rules.

It is important to note that some episodes of "Steven Universe" had to be censored in order for the animated series to get aired in foreign countries, especially in Russia, Steven Universe Wiki said.

Homeworld Stole Russia

Moviepilot spotted one fan speculating that Homeworld may have stolen Russia. Posted in Tumbler, one fan spotted something in the episode "The Return." Check out the post below.

As explained in the post, the characters on the keys appeared to be in Russian. Considering that Homeworld is advanced in technology, the odds that Homeworld stole Russia becomes higher.

But it remains a mystery what Homeworld really wanted with Russia if indeed they stole it. The truth will surely unfold as more episodes of "Steven Universe" get aired.

In the first season of "Steven Universe," fans saw a glimpse of Lunar Sea Spire but little is known about the facility. It may have a greater purpose than fans suspect.

More so, it seems a huge coincidence that gems used an alphabet from Earth that no longer exists.
