"Sea of Thieves" Executive Producer Joe Neate recently spoke to ComicBook during a presentation at E3 2016. "It's a shared world adventure game, a SWAG," he said of the new Rare title, adding that the developers want players to be immersed in the gameplay.
"We want you to come in and just spend hours in this world," Neate stated.
"Sea of Thieves" Design Director Gregg Mayles also shared that Rare wanted to try something different for a co-op gameplay.
"We've always tried different things," Mayles said, although he admitted that they are always thinking of the players first. "We were interested in and excited by shared world games, giving the players a lot of freedom."
Rare Wants YOU To Share Your Opinion About "Sea Of Thieves"
The players will also have the chance to improve "Sea of Thieves" before its commercial release. Joe Neate revealed that Rare actually invited some players to try the game out and got their opinion.
"We want to get it into players' hands then listen to what they're saying," Gregg Mayles added. Rare Mayles said. The developers are open to suggestions, working around a way to integrate certain requests into the "Sea of Thieves" gameplay.
But has Rare succeeded with "Sea of Thieves?" Gregg Mayles reports that player reaction is "really good."
"We couldn't have written it any better," he said.
