The Nun On 'The Conjuring 2' Is Getting Her Own Spinoff Movie; Details Here

"The Conjuring 2" is being raved about by fans right now, breaking the common "curse" that sequels suffer. What fans are more excited about is the speculation that the movie will result to a possible spinoff. Viewers are particularly interested in the deeper storyline of the demonic nun. There are reports that a spinoff called "The Nun" will be one of the next projects by Warner Brothers.

It is said that it will be directed by David Leslie Johnson, the screenwriter for "The Conjuring 2" and "Aquaman." He will also be the one to create the spinoff's script. Speculations say that James Wan, Conjuring 1 and 2's director, and Peter Safran, Conjuring 2's producer, will both be acting as showrunners for the upcoming movie "The Nun."

As the title suggests, the spinoff will delve into the story of the demonic nun character, which was seen in The Conjuring 2. This may explain why there was little information known about the character in the movie. The back story of the said villain would be thoroughly shown in the proposed spinoff, Screen Rant reported.

One interesting fact about the character is that the makers were not able to finalize its look and features, until during the movie's reshoots. In fact, she only existed three months before the second Conjuring movie was released on the big screen, The Hollywood Reporter said. She was only added last minute during the reshoots.

Wan already created a movie cut where the stars Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, who were paranormal investigators, would be battling a horned demonic figure. New Line was already ready to release that version. However, the very last minute, James Wan got a revelation. His new concept was that of a demonic nun. The director pitched the idea to New Line. Even though the super late changes were surprising, New Line Studios gave their approval for the change.

The reshoots were done in March. Minor details were redone. For instance, the art piece that was being painted in the scene by Wilson had to be digitally manipulated. The horned demon in the painting had to be changed into a nun. Another reshoot was that of Vera Farmiga watching in terror when a shadow starts crawling across the wall. The said shadow will line up with the painting and what happens next would be for viewers to see in the movie itself. The nun character will be played by Bonnie Aarons, who will be under heavy makeup.
