Skyrim's DLC Dawngaurd for PS3? Mum's Still the Word from Bethesda

I'm a writer. I have deadlines to meet, and if I don't, my editor would get a bit upset, and rightly so. I'm also a gamer, and as a gamer, when a company promises something by a certain date, and doesn't deliver, I too, get upset. And rightly so. But when they can't even off any excuse or logic as to why they're late? I get angry.

When asked for an update via Twitter on the status of the latest DLC for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Dawnguard, for the PlayStation 3, Bethesda's head of PR and Marketing, Pete Hines, had only to say, "I don't have an answer or an update."

How informative.

Not exactly an improvement over the last statement on the subject. On August 3, they had only, "We are not satisfied yet with Dawnguard’s performance on the PS3. We would like for everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we aren’t going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse. We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality."

Granted, I'd rather play a game later that works well, instead of play a buggy one sooner. But the lack of information is really getting tiresome.

But when there's already a game breaking bug that's been found in the PC version, I really have to ask why Bethesda had no problem releasing it, but feels okay leaving PS3 gamers with nothing to go on.

Released June 26 for XBox 360, and later arriving on August 2 for PC, PS3 is now the only console without Dawnguard, despite Bethesda's say-so that it would arrive at the end of the XBox's 30 day exclusivity period. We're now on day 52.

It would be nice if Bethesda would compensate fans for their disappoitment, but I wouldn't count on it.
