Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Velma, and Daphne are joining forces with the WWE's Triple H, John Cena, Vince McMahon and other colorful wrestlers will join forces to solve a mystery and WrestleMania for an all-new animated adventure.
The story was first reported by Deadline, the animated crossover was announced by was Warner Home Video's Jeff Brown and WWE Studios President Michael Luisi.
"We are excited to partner with Warner Bros. on this wonderful animated film," said Luisi. "Kids and adults are going to enjoy seeing their favorite WWE Superstars in animated form join forces with an icon like Scooby-Doo to solve a mystery at the biggest pop-culture event of the year WrestleMania."
In the late 1990s, the WWE was known for violent matches, sexual innuendo and storylines for adults. Well kind of adults. But the modern WWE is tad bit kid friendly. As of late, WWE programming has targeted a much younger audience and this new joint venture Warner Brothers proves.
But animation and wrestlers is nothing new for the WWE, back In the 1980s, the sports Entertainment Company had a Saturday mourning cartoon starring wrestlers like Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant and Rowdy Roddy Piper.
Scooby-Doo has appeared in many animated crossovers featuring a wide array of guest stars. In past crossover episodes and movies, Batman and Robin, Mama Cass, Phyllis Diller, and Kiss have joined the cartoon Great Dane to solve mysteries.
This unlikely team-up begins when Shaggy and Scooby win tickets to WrestleMania, and takes the rest of the teenage mystery solvers to WWE City to attend the event. Once they arrive, a ghostly bear threatens to ruin the show. So it is Scooby and the gang work to rescue.
The film is set for a 2014 release date.
