Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time will now be released sometime in early 2013, according to the game's newest gameplay trailer. The game was originally slated for a release in 2012.
In a statement to videogame website IGN, Sony confirmed that despite the delay, a Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time demo will still be included in this month's Ratchet & Clank Collection in North America.
"Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time will be releasing in February 2013 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita," Sony wrote in the statement. "With a robust and diverse catalog of first and third party content launching this holiday season- including Wonderbook: Book of Spells, PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale, Little Big Planet Karting, Assassins Creed III, Assassin's Creed III Liberation, Madden 13 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified - we have decided to release Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time in February 2013 to ensure gamers continue to have a variety of content to enjoy after the holidays and into the New Year."
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is the fourth title of the Sly Cooper series of platform stealth video games. Thieves in Time is set to release for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Thieves in Time marks the first time the series is out of the hands of original developers Sucker Punch Productions. Sanzaru Games will develop the new game. The studio had previously ported the original games into high-definition versions for the PlayStation 3.
The Stealth platformer allows players to controls Sly, Bentley, Murray, Carmelita Fox, and Sly's ancestors, to continue the story of the series. In this game players will utilize their thieving skills to pull off heists and solve a mystery involving time travel.
This game is also suppose to be part of the "Cross Buy" feature announced by Sony. This feature will allow anybody who bought the game get a free copy of the game on the PlayStation Vita.
