'Fallout 4' Xbox Release Date, News & Update: Game Temporarily Went Free On Xbox Store? What Went Wrong?

Gamers got the shock of their lives last June 9 when Bethesda’s “Fallout 4” erroneously got listed as free over at the Xbox Store.

The alleged issue involving “Fallout 4” was seen as a pricing error but there were some who went ahead and downloaded the game. While the whole thing was surprising from the very start, Microsoft has already corrected the issue and revoked the license of all copies downloaded during that period.

To make up for the glitch, Microsoft has instead offered a $10 credit to users as a form of peace offering for the unfortunate confusion. The credited amount is valid for one year starting from the day it was credited to the user account.

Following the fix on the pricing error for “Fallout 4," Xbox owners were sent messages to explain the whole occurrence.

"Our pricing error on Fallout 4 has been fixed and your free download will no longer work. For the inconvenience we will deposit $10 by the end of June in your Microsoft Account. This expires one year from the time it was deposited.

The fact that “Fallout 4” conspicuously became free was already too good to be true from the start. Had Microsoft announced any special offer, then the deal would have been something out of the ordinary especially considering it involved a high-profile game title.

But the good news is that the gamers get an untimely price off, possibly the good part of it all. As for the glitch, there is no word yet on why such happened though someone over there is likely to be punished for the whole mess.

With that out of the way, Bethesda is expected to tackle other things at E3 2016. That includes improving mod support and more as mentioned by Game Spot.
