"Lego Dimensions" is a character-filled game based on the Lego Movie. It is currently running on its second year.
Producers of "Lego Dimensions" released a trailer of their game's latest version. This September, players can expect to see Sonic the Hedgehog, Mission Impossible, The A-Team, Adventure Time, Powerpuff Girls, the Goonies, Gremlins, Knight Rider, ET and Beetlejuice. All of them would also be in Lego form. They will be joining the cast of Scooby-Doo, Batman and the other characters featured in the first season.
A press release by Lego said that "LEGO Dimensions" packs that will be released on September 27 are actually based on 16 new entertainment franchises. Some of the packs will include Harry Potter and Adventure Time team packs, Ghostbusters Story Pack, Mission Impossible coupled with Adventure Time level packs, and A-Team Fun Pack.
There are also expansion packs available. These will include film franchises such as the "LEGO Batman Movie" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." Some other popular franchises will be released too such as Sonic the Hedgehog, "The Goonies," LEGO City Uncover, Gremlins, Teen Titans Go!, Knight Rider, E.T. and Beetlejuice. All of these characters would be released by the game developers in batches that will stretch out until summer of 2017.
These expansion packs will allow players sustained compatibility. Hence, they can use everything interchangeably from wave one to nine. Players can also use whichever setting or place they are in throughout the game. There is no starter pack required as long as players have the basic LEGO Dimensions Starter game. These packs also work with the current LEGO Toy Pad.
The franchise of the "LEGO Dimensions" series is composed or real Lego sets and figures. These sets connect to video game versions that are based on those toys. Dimensions can be played in PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U platforms. The content of the starter packs are also tied up to their films, Polygon wrote. Hence, for example, the Ghostbusters pack will contain themes that can be found in the upcoming film. The franchise's main competition is the Disney Infinity line, which is now defunct. Another competition is Activision's Skylanders, Kotaku reported.
Buying all packs may cost a lot. However, fans defend that this is a rare opportunity to find all their favorite characters all in one game.
