'Star Wars: Episode VIII' New Set Photos Released; First Look At Jedi Robes

'Star Wars: Episode VIII' New Set Photos Released. First Look At Jedi Robes

"Star Wars: Episode VIII" is about to be completed in terms of principal photography. A set photo was released.

Rian Johnson, the director of Episode VIII, posted a photo on Tumblr. The set photo was that of a Jedi robe in a hanger set in front of a rocky background, which may be one of the backdrops for the film. The photo also showed a boom mike and a camera beside the robe.

Before this, the director also shared teaser images of the different sets they will use in the movie, including some aircraft vessels. The latest photo is supposedly a first look on the robes that Jedis will be donning on Episode VIII. However, he did not specify to whom the robe belonged. He simply captioned it "In the home stretch."

The director and his crew have been filming in London's Pinewood Studios. It is also the same location where they created the majority of the scenes in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Johnson has not given details on what fans could expect and look out for in the upcoming movie. This is because the production is still in its early stages, Polygon notes.

It is speculated that the film will pick up on the storyline where "The Force Awakens" ended. Looking back, Rey returned the lightsaber of Luke Skywalker on the top of a mountain. The setting seemed to be a deserted planet, where Skywalker was standing on a cliff and looking out to what appeared to be a body of water.

The release date for "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is expected to be on Dec. 15, 2017. For now, Star Wars fans could anticipate the arrival of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" first while waiting for the main movie. Rogue One is an anthology spin-off from the main story line. It is set for release on Dec. 18, 2016.

In other Star Wars news, Rogue One productions say that the film is currently doing reshoots on some parts of the movie. Reshooting of Rogue One was decided on by Disney executives because the initial shots of the film did not fulfill their taste and standards. The said reshoots are also expensive. The team is expected to film all throughout the summer and the coming months to meet the movie's scheduled release in December.
