“XCOM 2” is the sequel to “XCOM: Enemy Unknown” that was released back in February though it was limited only for play on PCs. Seeing the game come out with a version for game consoles like the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One was left hanging until recently.
Gamers who were eager to find out of there was indeed a game console version of “XCOM 2” can now breathe heavily following the announcement of developer Firaxis that a version or the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be coming out this September.
North America will get the privilege of seeing the game debut first on September 6 before a wider global release slated on September 9.
The PC version of “XCOM 2” has so far seen two DLC releases that included a lot of new gear for soldiers as well as the addition of three new Ruler alien enemies.
Though it remains to be seen if “XCOM 2” will carry the same level of quality and game play this September, Fixaris is reportedly working close with new developer “The Workshop” in the development of the game console version.
To their credit, “The Workshop” has to its credit a list of current-gen console versions such as “The Evil Within and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons”, “Sorcery” (PS3) and “Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage” DLC for “Borderlands 2."
"The incredible reception of XCOM 2 has been rewarding and humbling for the team, and we’ve known console fans have been clamoring to play the game too," said XCOM 2 creative director Jake Solomon. "As avid console players ourselves, we’re excited to work with The Workshop to bring XCOM 2 to all of our fans."
There will likely be some modifications for the upcoming game covering game controls. Overall however, it is believed that the “XCOM 2” version for the Xbox One and PlayStation 2 will carry the same gaming experience and game play.
