One of the alleged Xbox 720 codenamed Durango development kits has been sold on eBay for $20,100 by the person who leaked the existence of the kit last week.
The specs of the console remain purely speculation and rumors at this point, but with the machine being sold it is starting to seem that these rumors about Microsoft's alleged next-gen Xbox console may hold some truth. The development kit was sold by a man going under the alias of DaE, and received 43 bids before increase the going price $16,000 to $20,000 in a single bid.
"I sold one of two I own," The individual going by DaE, tweeted. "I still have the one that featured in news, the other one wasn't really necessary to keep as a leg rest."
All the development kit appears to be nothing more than a PC, development kits for consoles often do until the kits are put into specially designed casings that sometimes resemble the commercial console. If this sale is real it comes as quite a surprise. Microsoft would almost surely seek legal action for a developer selling Xbox Next's kit, plus the said developer would lose all credibility within the industry.
Microsoft remains silent on the topic of its new console but a recent employment posting discovered by the magazine PC World, said that the company will release a new Xbox within the next 18 months. The first news about the Durango development kit came from a tweet by Crytek, a video game studio.
Since Microsoft has yet to confirm or outright deny these rumors, speculation and rumor will continue to grow.
