Mass Effect 3, Star Wars KOTOR, and Baldur's Gate Game Makers Not Leaving EA

American video game maker Electronic Arts said in an interview with GameSpot that rumors of Bioware's Dr. Greg Zeschuk and Dr. Ray Muzyka departures are incorrect. Germany gaming site GamersGlobal reported that two men had left the company after the disappointing launch of the company's massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic.

"When Greg Zeschuk announced the reorganization of Bioware Austin in May, he outlined his plan to return to his family in Edmonton for a much deserved vacation," EA representative told GameSpot. "Greg also announced the new GM Bioware Austin and SWTOR, Matt Bromberg. Greg is still with EA. He's now back in Canada, taking time off and thinking about new projects. No changes with Dr. Ray."

According to the original report by GamersGlobal, Zeschuk updated his LinkedIn account to state that he was no longer the as general manager of Bioware Austin. GamersGlobal also attributes a "trusted source" with information that the two were not at a meeting last week. The anonymous source is also attributed with saying that Zeschuk had not been in the studio for weeks.

Bioware's Star Wars: The Old Republic was released in December 2011 and initially saw a large subscriber base of 1.7 million. The subscription numbers have since fallen below 1 million, and Bioware Austin restructured and laid off several staff members. The game is switching to free-to-play model this fall.

BioWare was founded in February 1995 developed title such as the Baldur's Gate series, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the Mass Effect series, Dragon Age: Origins and more.
