The new Pebble Kickstarter is a little bit fitness focused. It has the Pebble 2, Pebble Time, and also the Pebble Core. The Pebble Core looks the most interesting, it's a 3G Ultraportable gadget and it is going to be shipped with Amazon Alexa.
Pebble Core is a unique fitness tracker with Amazon Alexa on board
Pebble Core tracks your fitness. You have GPS in there so when you go for a run, it's still tracking where you're going and it also has Amazon Alexa to help you with your routine.
According to Forbes, all those commands that you have on Amazon Alexa you will be able to do through your Pebble Core.
This means that if you go for a run using your Pebble Core for example, you can say like "Alexa, play my running tracks" then it will go to that running playlist and play your running tracks.
Also if you come back in after a nice run, you can say "lights on" and Amazon Alexa will do it for you.
Pebble 2 Kickstarter includes Pebble Core
Pebble 2 and Pebble Time also looks interesting but they're all fitness focused and they don't really offer anything unique besides tracking your fitness, unlike Pebble Core.
The fitness tracking kind of going off from what Pebble actually is, which is kind of a notification company that was working on long battery life, and just getting notifications down to a tee.
Now, Pebble is really working on fitness and all of that which a lot of the public users are not really that interested in. Pebble is trying to compete with Fitbit and the Apple watch which is a brave move since Pebble is a small company that is already struggling.
But with Pebble Core and Amazon Alexa, this could very well be their saving grace. It's useful and unique at the same time, which is practical for people on a budget.
"Experiencing Amazon Alexa on-the-go right from Pebble Core is game-changing for wearable technology," Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky said in a Get Pebble blog post. "We're longtime fans of the powerful voice services Alexa delivers, and it only gets smarter and more useful over time. It's an approach we embrace with our own products."
