The digital take on "Resident Evil 5" is slated to arrive on June 28, 2016. Capcom shared some details about the updated version of the game.
In February 2016, Capcom announced that they are planning to re-release “Resident Evil 4,” as well as the fifth and sixth titles, on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The fifth installment was first released on Mar. 5, 2009.
GameSpot stated that the “Resident Evil 5” re-release will highlight higher frame rate and a 1080p resolution. No Mercy, the more challenging version of the Mercenaries multiplayer mode in the original “Resident Evil 5” will also be included in the re-launched title. No Mercy was only available on PC before. The new version is expected to showcase more enemies for players to battle, considering that current-generation consoles can adequately handle the load.
The Mercenaries United mode will be part of the new “Resident Evil 5” with the entire roster of characters already unlocked from the beginning. Players will be required to chain zombie kills and finish objectives within a limited period. The updated game will feature all previously released DLC and episodes in the story.
Considering that “Resident Evil 5” will feature all the released DLC, the story episodes “Lost in Nightmares” and “Desperate Escape” will also be there.
Overall, "Resident Evil 5" is expected to provide the same horrors and excitement to players with highly improved graphics and more modes and options. The third-person shooter is set five years after “Resident Evil 4,” starring Chris Redfield and his new partner Sheva Alomar who are sent on a mission in Africa. The main villain in the plot is Redfield’s old enemy, Albert Wesker. The two have to settle scores, while dealing with the existing zombie problem.
IGN noted that the enhanced version of "Resident Evil 6" was released earlier in 2016, while “Resident 4” is set to re-launch next. Aside from “Resident Evil 5” and other titles that will receive the enhanced treatment, there are rumors that “Resident Evil 7” is already in development and will officially be unveiled at E3 2016.
The enhanced version of "Resident Evil 5" will cost $20 and will be playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The digital version of the game will become available on June 28 while the retail disc version will be available on July 12 in North America. The launch date in Europe has yet to be announced. More updates and details are expected soon.
