Thief 4 Rumored For The Next generation Of Gaming Consoles

Long delayed stealth sequel Thief 4 appears to be headed for the next generation and could be a launch title for the next Xbox and future PlayStation.

The latest issue Official Xbox Magazine reported in the rumor section that the game could be a launch title for the next Xbox. Thief 4 is being made by Eidos Montreal, and was announced for no specific console in May 2009. The official website for the game launched on the same day as the announcement and has not been updated with new information since.

Eidos Montreal released Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a neo-noir cyberpunk-themed stealth action role-playing video game that shares a few elements with the Thief series.

Thief is a series of stealth video games in which the player takes the role of Garrett, a master thief in a fantasy metropolis called "the City." The game seems to be set during an alternate version of the industrial revolution, electricity exist, forms of magic, and some 19th century machinery. Garrett is an orphan, who survives as a pickpocket. He joins a secret order of guardians called the Keepers, but later leaves the order to pursue a life of thievery.

The last entry in the Thief franchise, Thief: Deadly Shadows was released in 2004.
