Beyond Good & Evil HD Coming In September

Ubisoft is releasing a high definition version of Beyond Good & Evil packaged with two other popular digital games From Dust and Outland. The Xbox live collection will be released on Sept., 21. There is no word on the PlayStation 3 version of the collection as of yet.

From Dust is a unique first person game that gives gamers god-like abilities and control over the environment of a constantly evolving world.  As players are terraforming the landscape, the world undergo numerous natural predicaments like approaching tsunamis and erupting volcanoes. Physical changes to the world occur extremely rapidly in the game, allowing players to restructure the islands within minutes.

Outland combines two-dimensional platforming with a polarity system and an open world structure. The gameplay revolves around melee attacks, special powers and collecting hidden items to unlock extras.

Beyond Good & Evil is an action-adventure game with elements of puzzle-solving and stealth elements. The game was released on the previous generation of home consoles and was well received by critics. On Metacritic, Beyond Good & Evil has a score of 87 for the GameCube and Xbox versions.

Despite mostly good reviews the game is considered a commercial disappointment and was largely over looked during a crowded holiday season in 2003, according to PlayStation magazine.

A HD release of Beyond Good & Evil could spark renewed interest in the often rumored sequel.
