The iPhone 7 rumors continue today and this time the latest round could be something worth noting. Storage has been an issue for iPhone owners but if this bit from Weibo is accurate, a major change on the base iPhone 7 model could address the lack of space many have been encountering.
Kevin Wang, director of Market Research at IHS Technology in China, posted some curious specs tied up with the upcoming iPhone 7. That included 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage space as the new minimum for the latest Apple offering expected to debut this September.
If Wang’s spill is spot on, the iPhone 7 will be the first smartphone under the Apple banner to forego the 16 GB of storage. Wang added that these bits come from a “supply chain research” and seeing how he has been reliable as far as leaked information is concerned, the iPhone 7 may have just lifted the interest (a bit).
The bump in storage capacity may not be big news with most focusing more on the iPhone 7 design and power specs though it makes tons of sense. Through the years, the Cupertino company has profited from adding a $100 difference for folks who want more storage for their iPhones.
With the rumoured bump up to 32 GB, such does away with the 16 GB default storage which has technically become useless with the amount of media and larger file sizes folks have to manage these days. Tying it up with another rumor that concerns the dual-lens camera module, the additional storage space should give aspiring iPhone 7 buyers a big sigh of relief.
With iPhones coming with no provisions for additional space via external methods (i.e. microSD card options), most are forced to either transfer their files to cloud storage or to their laptops or PCs.
Will the bump in storage for the basic iPhone 7 be something worth lauding?
