EA Announces Army Of Two: The Devil’s Cartel

EA announced Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel at the company's annual Summer Showcase. The third-person paramilitary shooter will once again focus on the use of cooperative gameplay and coordinated tactics to accomplish gameplay goals.

The game's story will concentrate on Tactical Worldwide Operations operatives Alpha and Bravo as they fight through the streets of Mexico. According to EA, the operatives will find themselves in the middle of a drug war conflict for "an assignment full of corruption and deceit." The third installment of the franchise will feature two new protagonists. According to EA, this incarnation will be more intense, mature and feature a far grittier tone than the previous two installments.

Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel is development by Visceral Montreal and powered by the Battlefield 3 engine Frostbite 2. The game features online or split-screen co-op as well as a new weapon customization system. the Army of Two franchise has always featured a robust weapons customization feature, where player were able to purchase upgrades with money earned as the game progressed.

The original Army of Two received mostly positive critical reception and averaged press score of 7.4, while the sequel Army of Two: 40th Day has a slightly lower score of 7.2, according to Gamestats.com.

Army of Two The Devil's Cartel will be available in March 2013 for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system. No announcements have been made regarding a Wii-U release.
