Apple's iPad users who are Amazon Prime customers will be overjoyed to hear that they can enjoy Amazon's Instant Video with their iPads.
Internet retailer, Amazon launched Amazon Instant Video app for iPad on Wednesday. The company's Instant Video is a mixture between Netflix and iTune video store.
The Amazon Prime annual subscription costs $79. It has a video library that is accessible round the clock, it also offers a huge store of movies and TV shows (120,000 videos) that can be quickly streamed and downloaded and watched offline.
Apple had a policy that removed the entire Amazon's Kindle app for iOS's store links. That meant customers couldn't buy, rent or subscribe to Prime services directly, but had to go through a browser and transfer them to the app for viewing.
The app has other features like Watchlist, which allowed users to queue up movies or TV shows, which will be available in the cloud. If the movie has been rented, it shows up on the app's Library section. You can either download it or stream it using Wi-Fi. Users can stream audio to Apple TV, but the app does not support video.
This launch for iPad comes in a week of heightened activity. Apple TV added Hulu Plus as an option. Though Apple still leads the way, Amazon has made it a point to make itself available for iPads, for fear of losing its limited customers, by making its video service exclusive for only its device.
The app offered by Amazon is free of cost and runs on any iPad having iOS 4.3 or higher version.
