It's more than a year since the latest iteration of the iconic LG G Flex greeted the public eye. At the time, the LG G Flex 2 made history as the first Android 5.0 Lollipop smartphone with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chip under its hood. With a "self-healing" mechanism, it comes as no surprise that the device was found attractive by many users.
This time, we're curious to find out what the next G Flex would look like. Conventional naming suggests it will be the LG G Flex 3, but other than a numerical step-up, what could it possibly offer? Let's take a look at five things expected in the purported handset.
1. Processor
The LG G Flex 3 is allegedly powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, GSMArena noted in an earlier report. Such chipset is said to be supported by 4 GB of RAM. At the time, the outlet mentioned an anonymous source, who claimed that the device comes out in March 2016. Apparently, that didn't happen.
2. Display
Speculations over the display of the LG G Flex 3 vary. One claim suggests a 5.6-inch 2K screen, while another pegs a 6-inch QHD display. The latest G Flex features a curved, 5.5-inch Full HD P-OLED display.
3. Camera
If reports are to be believed, the LG G Flex 3 appears enticing for users who enjoy taking photos. Rumors have it that the device packs a 20.7/21MP main camera, complemented by an 8MP selfie snapper.
4. Storage
The LG G Flex 3 is believed to offer an internal storage of 32GB, the PCAdvisor wrote. Reportedly, this will be expandable, thanks to microSD support. A storage of 32GB is already quite big, so if this holds truth, users will be happy.
5. Other Features
As per TechRadar, the LG G Flex 3 is also speculated to bring new features such as an iris scanner, or a fingerprint scanner at the least. An iris-scanning technology has long been anticipated in mobile devices, so we're excited to see which gets it first.
Release Date and Price
According to MustTech News, the LG G Flex 3 is expected to launch at the Berlin-based IFA in September. The outlet brings up other rumor variations, including a 6GB RAM and a Snapdragon 830 chip. But then again, these details are to be taken with healthy pinches of salt. The PCAdvisor expects the device retailing around £529 ($769).
