There have been more revelations regarding Microsoft's Xbox 720. Details of Xbox 720's development kit have appeared on forums. The details match the earlier details of the leaked specs.
The picture shows a product codenamed "Durango," showing a black box is high-end gaming PC, in terms of its appearance and technology.
DaE, the source of the leak listed the Durango at $10,000, but later the administrator removed it. Many developers have confirmed that the device appears to be legitimate.
Most confirmed details of the Durango are its type of processor and amount of memory. The leak revealed development kit as having 8GB of RAM (some say it is 12GB) and a system of 64-bit. Developmental kits usually consists a higher memory than the end product which is used for debugging. There are other reports where the developer has suggested that Durango can run on DirectX 11 engines, which many recent PC games use.
DaE also revealed that the development kit contained an eight-core processor. This was neither confirmed nor denied by developers. DaE also said the processor is made by Intel and graphics card by NVIDIA, which can be a possibility since Microsoft has paired these both since its original Xbox's hardware partnership are the same. DaE provided a screenshot of Visual Studio environment that was being used by him.
"As an aside it's got my favorite MS return code in there: ERROR_SUCCESS" said sources at Digital Foundry. The use of header file "immintrin.h" tells us that the use of x86 architecture, like in many PCs. This is a departure from tradition as this architecture is seen mostly in consoles. This will narrow the gap between console and a PC.
There have been rumors that Kinect might be built into the console.
As usual, Microsoft has not confirmed any of the leaked news. Developers around the world believe Xbox 720 will be released by the end of 2013.
