Game developer 343 Industries recently announced that they will release “Forge – Halo 5: Guardians Edition” for Windows 10 later in 2016. “Halo 5: Guardians” will not launch for the PC, but only the “Halo – Forge” map creator, allowing players to edit and make their own maps for the full game.
The “Halo – Forge” map creator was announced to release for Windows 10 on May 19, 2016. It will be free and there will also be new exciting features made especially for PC. Some of the inclusions to expect are the full keyboard and mouse support, an enhanced 4K resolution and creating maps on the PC and publishing these to the Xbox One to be played on “Halo 5: Guardians.”
343 Industries also stated that players can edit and test their levels on the PC with friends, which may also allow them to play “Halo 5” maps via the platform. Doing so may only showcase the raw version of the multiplayer without online support.
Halo Waypoint said Tom French, UGC Director for 343 Industries that the “Halo – Forge” map editor will offer mouse and keyboard editing precision that gamers have asking for in the past. There will also be an update and optimized UI focused on mouse interactions which will cause many of the inputs in the “Halo – Forge” map creator more convenient than before.
French added that since they featured “Halo 5 – Forge,” map editor, they have seen several amazing creations like entertaining mini-games to well-developed maps that are almost as good as the maps that the game developers came up with. Offering “Halo – Forge” map editor on Windows 10 will further open the app to more people and provide the opportunity for creative individuals to make their own cool maps for the full game. He is looking forward to the great models that the PC community can offer with the new “Halo – Forge” map creator.
The game developer also teased that they will have more updates for the “Halo – Forge” map creator later in 2016, including new environments, new pieces, props and palettes and advanced file sharing capabilities. A new update may become available in a few weeks, while initial creations by players on the new “Halo – Forge” map editor on Windows are expected to be seen soon after the official launch.
