New Trailer for Darksiders 2

In the first Darksiders, horseman of the apocalypse War was tricked into beginning the biblical end of days too early. Taking place simultaneously with the events of the first game, Darksiders II sees War's brother Death, the most feared of the horsemen, similarly trying to clear his brother's name.

THQ creative director Luis Gigliotti hopes that the remaining horsemen will have larger roles in games, but nothing has been mentioned about playability, though the remaining horsemen, Strife and Fury, will feature in some capacity.

Like traditional depictions of the Grim Reaper, Death is equipped with his trademark scythe, "The Harvester," which War could obtain in the first Darksiders. In this game, Death still keeps the scythe, but it appears as two smaller scythes, which he can form together.

The game will take Death across multiple dungeons and city hubs, which will feature NPCs who can give out side quests etc. In the July 2011 issue of Game Informer, the cover feature details that one city hub will connect to a number of dungeons and that one city area will feature more dungeons than the whole of the original Darksiders. Loot will also be included, dropping from encounters as rewards ranging from 12 different armor piece categories, which can have different enchantments and may power up Death's Wrath Powers.

Darksiders 2 is out August 14 for PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and an eventual release for Nintendo's Wii U.
