Google Spaces: YouTube, Search & Chrome Now Rolled Into One App

Even though Google might deny it, Google+ has proven to be kind of a flop in comparison to its social media competitors. However, the company has rolled out a new product - called Google Spaces - promising a new social media experience as it combines Google Chrome, Google Search and YouTube into one app.

Google Spaces allows users not just to share their insights, but to encourage group discussions as well. The new Google app provides a platform for Internet-goers to collaborate on a specific topic.

How Does Google Spaces Work?

Just like most Google platforms, Google Spaces is easy to use and very user-friendly. "It's simple enough: you create a 'Space' dedicated to a particular interest, and then invite your friends to discuss," explained TheNextWeb.

Although the purpose doesn't seem too revolutionary, Google Spaces gives users the convenience to access YouTube, Chrome and Google Search right from the app itself. Basically put, users won't have to "switch between apps to find and view shared content."

In addition to that, Google Spaces also offers a chat feature. TechCrunch notes that this very feature makes the Google app more eligible to be a competitor of Facebook's Messenger or WhatsApp "because of its focus on chatting and its mobile-friendly nature."

More In Store For Google Spaces

Google Product Director Luke Wroblewski shared in a blog post that further experimentation will be done on Google Spaces at Google I/O later this week. "We've created a space for each session so that developers can connect with each other and Googlers around topics at I/O, and we've got a few surprises too," wrote Wroblewski.

Google Spaces is already available for download. The app is available on Android, iOS and even on the web.
