Apple iPhone's is seeing some strong competition from rival Samsung and its Galaxy S3 Smartphone. According to Samsung President Shin Jong-Kyun, the company has sold over 10 million Galaxy S3 devices in a report from Yonhap News. The results exceeded expectations and the S3 has been the most desired device on the market. Demand has been so high that carriers had to delay the launch date to June 21st.
In comparison to the current iPhone, the Samsung S3 has a bigger 4.8-inch HD screen with an AMOLED display with resolutions of 1280 x 720. Other impressive features include an 8-megapixel camera with 2GB of RAM, 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 4G LTE connectivity, and a microSD cad slot. It records video in HD 1080p and a front 1.9 megapixel camera can be used for video calling.
Analysts predict that Apple may fall into a slump until their next-gen iPhone 5 hits the market. The rise in competition will definitely take a toll though the company may just drop in sales, not customers.
"While multiple quarters of sequential declines in iPhone units would normally be expected to pressure Apple's stock, we suspect the window for the bears is limited by the imminent iPhone 5 product cycle and already prudent near-term investor expectations," said Goldman Sachs' Bill Shope in a report from MarketWatch.
Despite the predicted slump, analysts believe that the iPhone 5 will bring Apple back up atop competitors based on strong expectations and demand. No official release date has been given for the iPhone 5, though plenty or rumors reported that the iPhone 5 will be powered by iOS 6, which has already launched a beta 3 version. It will also boast a 4-inch Retina display screen with resolutions of 1136x640, have 1GB of RAM, and 4G LTE connectivity.
Recent rumors also indicated that the iPhone 5 might integrate near field communication (NFC) features despite earlier reports that Apple will hold off on releasing the new technology. Due to high risk, Apple told the Wall Street Journal that it plans to wait it out and see how consumers respond to NFC before releasing it on Apple devices.
