Some Samsung fans are not yet buying smartphones for now. Why? Rumors say that Samsung is set to introduce Samsung Galaxy X which, if speculations are indeed correct, would be the first phone that features a foldable screen.
Samsung Galaxy X
It was previously rumored that the Korean manufacturer experimented with phones that can be folded. But why the emphasis of bendable or foldable screens? According to analysts, foldable screens could be the next big thing in smartphones, reports TechInsider.
Smartphone users agree that bigger screens are better, they offer clearer images and ease of use because users don't need to strain their eyes to read texts. The only drawback is that bigger screened phones tend to get bulky and manufacturers can only increase a phone's screen size up to a degree where it would still comfortably fit in the user's pocket.
If rumors are correct, Samsung Galaxy X will solve this problem nicely. A foldable phone would be smaller in size when not in use and could easily fit in one's pocket. However, when the screen is unfolded it will offer users with a wide screen area comparable to that of a tablet.
Actually, speculations about this latest Samsung foray into foldable screen technology has been around for some time. PhoneArena explains that in its early stages, the project was said to be under the codename Samsung Project Valley.
At the moment, Samsung has not confirmed nor denied these rumors. However, the company was said to have submitted patents on designs in foldable screen technology which is a strong indication indeed that Samsung's yet to be unveiled Galaxy X could be the result of these designs.
Possible Release Date?
Earlier, Digital Trends hinted at the possibility that Samsung's foldable screen smartphone might be released this year. Recent developments suggest that it might be later than that optimistic estimate though.
Latest information leak suggests that the highly anticipated Galaxy X might be released this 2017, along with other new Samsung models. YahooNews reports of a Weibo user stating that Samsung will release the Galaxy X next year, along with four other smartphones: Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy Note 7 Edge, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge.
However, Galaxy S may not have a global release at first. Unnamed sources say that the foldable screen smartphone will be introduced first in U.K., Poland, Nordic countries, South Korea, Italy, France and Germany.
Specifications
There are a few known data on the specifications of the phones to be released. On the hand, the Galaxy X is said to come with a Pen Tile subpixel arrangement and will have an amazing 4K resolution.
