Capcom Reports Staff Layoffs

The developer behind Dead Rising 2, Capcom Vancouver, announced it a tweet that it has let go of seven percent of it's work force. The move is the apparent result of an "unsuitable fit with the studio," and was "part of its regular periodic assessment of overall studio goals," and something about TPS reports.

Layoffs are an unfortunate part of any business and/or industry, game development included. Games go through multiple phases of development, and can take YEARS to finish (Duke Nukem anyone?). As such, most studios can't always afford to keep workers on payroll from the game's start to finish. If anything, this move may indicate that one of their projects may have just entered another stage of development.

Layoffs are often a bad sign of things to come, but Capcom Vancouver was quick to ensure this was not the case. In another tweet following the announcement, Capcom did note that "We're still growing and aggressively seeking great talent," so don't expect them to slow down anytime soon. What's that mean? Job openings. So to anyone reading this, get your resumes ready.

It looks like they're hoping to really expand, because according to their site, there are job openings for animators, artists, producers, designers, audio technicians, project managers, software engineer, and more. Gamers preferred.
