Ouya Updates Their Hardware And Introduces Their Developer

The indie console of the future reveals who's tinkering behind the scenes in an update sent to current backers. Game Informer passed along the message from Ouya which revealed their secret sauce when it comes to their hardware.

Lead designer Muffi Ghadiali, who worked on the guts of Amazon's Kindle, sent out an email to act as both update on what's being added to the Ouya and a tease of what's to come with collaboration from NVIDA and adding an ethernet jack. Still that might be as drastic as the changes get since the console's goal is to come in at the $99 price point for gamers. They're also rushing out the SDK for developers as quickly as they can, but it seems like at the start it'll be just like working on the traditional Android SDK.

So what's Muffi's over all goal?

"I joined OUYA because I saw--early on--the potential for an open technology to change how gaming works. Gamers are unique. They are sophisticated and they follow products from the first idea all the way to market. For a product guy like me, that's exciting. We're getting a lot of feedback, great support and lots of questions. Sometimes those are tough questions but they keep me at the top of my game. It's pretty cool that Kickstarter facilitates a direct dialogue with future users.

My job at OUYA is to ensure that we meet the needs of gamers and developers"
