The trailer that was initially released at Comic-Con has hit the web. Check it out for yourself below!
"Resident Evil: Damnation", is the second feature-length computer-animated horror 3D film by Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan. It is a sequel to Resident Evil: Degeneration, and is planned for a release in 2012. Details are scant, but it seems as though the story of will revolve around bio-organic weapons used in a civil war in an Eastern European nation, (possibly Edonia, a setting in the upcoming Resident Evil 6), and will see the return of Leon S. Kennedy (again voiced by Paul Mercier) as the protagonist, as well as Ada Wong, who hasn't been seen since Resident Evil 4.
In a Q and A session at Comic-Con, "Damnation's" director Makoto Kamiya did confirm a few things:
* The game is set between games five and six. The filmmakers worked closely with the game developers to ensure perfect continuity between game, movie, game.
* All of the humans were motion-captured in order to improve animation. However, the Lickers are still fully computer created because their limbs are not analogous to humanoid forms.
* As you saw in the trailer, the filmmakers went out of their way to make sure that fans would see Lickers in bright, well-lighted locations, a change from the games.
* All of the filmmakers are open to making more films, but there are no specific plans. Kamiya said that if fans want to see another entry, "If you and maybe ten of your friends go out and buy the DVD, I think we will make enough to produce another film."
This film will be released theatrically in 3D in Japan, but will be a straight to DVD release in the US, arriving on Blu-ray September 25.
The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: Conceptual art gallery, The DNA of Damnation behind-the-scenes featurette, Las Plagas: Organisms of War, Gag reel on English version, and ultraviolet digital copy.
