JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Gets An HD Stand

The quirky fighting game that introduced Arcade gamers in the U.S. to an even trippier manga is coming back to the virtual console. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD will the the candy-colored story of the Joestar family as they battle the vampire DIO and his dozen-or-so minions, each of whom controls a Stand, or a Deus Ex Machina that lets you control water, dolls or even stop time.

Capcom promises to bring back the grit of the original gen release with an SD mode to celebrate the "pixels," which seems odd to us when there's also the HD version to remind us why HDMI outputs exist for our televisions. Continuing the multiplayer trend, JoJo HD will featue an online ranking and lobby system similar to Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom ORIGINS. There's also a new lobby system that replaces the old days of stacking quarters on the side of the machine: when a player loses, they'll be kicked back to being a passive viewer while the winner continues on until they're knocked off. It's a nice twist to a game that has such heart-felt memories in the Arcade culture.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD comes out on August 21st for the Playstation Network for $19.99 and August 22nd for Xbox Live for 1600 Microsoft Points. If you want to get caught up on the story, you may as well go with the Abridged version for your enjoyment.
