A delay in the "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" release announcement is imminent as it is currently on hold, at least until the weekend. Bandai Namco Entertainment said that the Tekken installment is still in development as a more strategic time for the launch is also prioritized, following the more recent 'Street Fighter V' release.
First announced on the San Diego Comic-Con International in 2010, fans were anticipating this Capcom-collaborated Tekken installment to see the Tekken and Street Fighter characters crossover. Thus, fans and reviewers also refer to it as 'Tekken x Street Fighter'. According to Pulse Headlines, Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harad explained that they value their playing groups for both Tekken and Street Fighter. This is the reason why they "don't want to split these communities, so a good window in which to release Tekken X Street Fighter is something that's become difficult recently. So it's on hold for the moment," he added.
"Tekken 7" will still showcase the 3D fighting mechanism similar to a previous installment and will be made available on a variety of platforms. BitBag clarified that "Tekken 7" will be available on both PS4 and XBox One, amidst recent confusion that it's exclusive to Playstation 4 only. Bandai Namco staff, Mark Julio, was also quick to address the inaccuracy on Twitter to appease the fans.
Moreover, TechTimes reported that a "Tekken 7"Tournament called "The King of Iron Fist" will be hosted by Bandai Namco in partnership with Wizard World Con. A $30,000 prize will be won and divided to the top players of the competition. The tournament will be conducted in 16 cities across North America then a winner will be chosen for each stop, who will battle against each other in the final round and split the cash prize.
Reports are yet to confirm whether Bandai Namco and Wizard World Con will use a "Tekken 7" arcade version or the PS4 versions in the tournament. Either way, this year is about to become even more legendary!
