Sony's PlayStation Network is currently experiencing intermittent outage that resulted to thousands of gamer complaints on various social media websites. Sony's internet gaming service has rendered the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 players incapacitated to access games through their Sony game consoles.
The most affected gamers are those who are into online MMORPG games like Rocket League and Destiny. Single players were also affected by the outage since it prevents them from booting up that needs authentication with third party servers. The Sony PlayStation Network also features video content viewing for Netflix and Hulu Plus, which is also having issues with the outage.
PSN outage is not a new thing for the network as it has been (and still is) the big issue for the Japan-based giant. Throughout the year, the service has gone haywire numerous times but the most disturbing fact about it is that Sony has yet to comment on the issue and as of this time. Sony's website is showing that their PSN service is working properly.
This type of outage is very common for web-based services that heavily relays on servers, which is most of the time gets tons of loads over their limit, but this outage should not happen in the first place, since it is expected for big gaming companies, such as Sony, to address the issue before it happens.
On the other hand, this service does not come cheap and as paying customers, players who are members of the services feel cheated every time an outage is present. Also, this type of service is also prone to cyber attacks as they happened before during the Christmas holidays that rendered the service useless for some time.
Sony is just one of the many consumer electronic giants who offers the service. Microsoft, which is Sony's main rival in the game console department, also offers Xbox Live, a similar service like the PlayStation Network, who had almost the same number of outages as what PSN has, outage wise, from the start of the year up until now.
