Surprisingly, Microsoft revealed that Sony's PlayStation 4 will be having its price cut in the coming days. Microsoft and Sony are currently and have been the kingpins of the gaming console game through their Xbox and PlayStation entertainment packages.
According to reports, the news was revealed by Microsoft Xbox President Phil Spencer, through IGN and said that he fully expects the price of PS4 to drop. Spencer banked his predictions through previous PlayStation directions.
The Xbox executive was also happy with the decision, which is a bit surprising since everyone is accustomed to see two bitter rivals to throw bombs at each other and said that the move is great for gamers. It is also expected for Xbox to step up the game in order to compete equally with Sony.
In August, PlayStation 4 was declared the highest grossing game console for the month against its rivals Microsoft's Xbox One and Nintendo's Wii U. As a matter of fact, PlayStation 4 or PS4 outplayed the two game consoles throughout the year except for May (Xbox One). With the current news, it is expected for PlayStation 4 to carry its momentum in 2016 and will continue to dominate the industry throughout 2017 because of the upcoming remake of the probably one of the, if not the most, popular game in the gaming industry, Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII.
The PlayStation 4 or PS4 was initially released in November 2013 at around $400 and received a total of roughly $150 price cut since it was released. Spencer's revelation is also good news for those who want to get the popular game console, either for personal use or as a gift, most especially the holiday season is around the bend.
In related news, Sony has finally revealed PlayStation VR which was touted to reshape the landscape of the gaming arena. The PlayStation VR was developed under the name Project Morpheus in response to Oculus Rift, the first VR in the gaming world. The PlayStation VR uses PlayStation 4 to play its game.
