American video game publisher Activision, finally announced that they will be releasing a new free to play (F2P) mobile card game, the Skylanders Battlecast, which will be officially released in 2016.
The Skylanders Battlecast card battle mobile game took its cue from two Activision produced video games, the Skylanders series, and Hearthstone.
Hearthstone is a Warcraft inspired card battle online game that has contributed in the $1.2 Billion rich Digital collectible card game division of the online industry. Skylanders, on the other hand, is equally successful on the video game and toy industry.
As a matter of fact, since its official launch in 2011, Skylanders was reported to have booked a total of $3 billion revenue from its video games and action figure sales.
Since Hearthstone is, so far, one of the most successful card battle game available, Activision wanted to go a notch higher and put a very interesting and innovative twist on the upcoming game's gameplay.
According to a report, the game publisher giant will be selling physical Skylanders cards and the gamer should use their device's camera on the physical cards in order to play the game. After taking snaps of the card, the game app will do its magic and bring the gamer's character to life once the game commences.
Aside from the animation and physical character card, the game will also feature new adventure sets which will take place on the Skylanders universe, collectibles, strategic card combat, online player versus player combat and single-player campaign.
Players can also create a team of their favorite heroes which will be supported by a custom build ultimate deck.
In an official statement released by Activision's CEO Eric Hirshberg, he said that by far, the Skylander Battlecast is Activision's biggest investment and most innovative idea for the franchise and the combination of a physical card play with mobile gaming is just a phenomenal leap for the company.
The Skylander Battlecast card packs can be purchased on retail stores, in addition, digital card games can also be purchased inside the game.
As of this time, the official launch of the game is yet to be determined but Activision already confirmed that the game will be available on iOS, Google Play, and Amazon App store, which means that it is playable, virtually, on all the devices available today.
