Originally released to arcades in 2000 (yes, they were still around then), Metal Slug 3 hits goes mobile today, now available on iOS and Androiod devices.
Metal Slug 3 gameplay remains the same as previous Metal Slugs, run n' gun, jump n' duck. Think a more cartoony Contra. After all, there's not a whole lot of shooting platformers that let you ride an ostrich.
But Metal Gear 3 brought something new to the franchise that's represented in the mobile release - a branching map system "allowing you to take a different route to the end with each play-through, and an immense map of endless gameplay awaits you in Metal Slug 3" according to a press release.
The mobile version offers the classic arcade mode, as well as a "mission mode," which will let you select what stages you want to play. So if you want to skip ahead to the mummies in Mission 4, go right ahead. The slug tanks are still represented as well, but 3 even adds a couple, like: the Slug Mariner, Drill Slug, Elephant Slug, and the aforementioned Ostrich Slug. The mobile version also brings in a multiplayer mode via Bluetooth functions. You can play with friends, or compete for the best score with players from all over.
Metal Slug 3 is available now, and costs $6.99 for both iOS and Android versions.
