We recently saw the first image of new playable Smite god Ratatoskr, but now HiRez Studios has officially unveiled the character in full.
Smite Beta For Xbox One Is Now Available
The Norse squirrel of myth now has his own character page on the developer's website, dubbing Ratatoskr "The Sly Messenger". The reveal includes in-game footage of the character, as well as a full run down of his abilities.
In Norse mythology, Ratatoskr carries information up and down the world tree, his home. In the game, he will use his unique item--an upgradeable nut--to bring down his foes. The site offers a chart of his acorn's upgrade path, which comes in four final color variants: sapphire, emerald, topaz, opal. The first two can be accessed by first upgrading to a blue acorn, and the second two can be reached by choosing the yellow acorn path. They all have different passive bonuses, while each acorn in the two pairs share the same state increases.
Civilization Beyond Earth Expansion Rising Tide Announced
The passive bonuses influence the effects of Ratatoskr's four main abilities, which are normal for each character in Smite. The new god's abilities are Dart (Ratatoskr launches himself forward), Flurry of Acorns (Ratatoskr spins in a circle, shooting 12 acorns out in a star formation), Acorn Blast (Ratatoskr shoots a blast of four acrons forward in a cone, dealing damage), and Through the Cosmos (Ratatoskr climbs three branches into the heavens before choosing his landing location to smash down).
Check out Ratatoskr's page for more details, including a fuller lore explanation and insight from the developers about the character's design and abilities.
